TWO  WOLVES

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

         He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

         “One is Evil -  It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

         “The other is Good -  It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

         The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied,  “The one you feed.”

This phrase, Living with No Regrets, had always bothered me but never wanted to address it. I think my time has come.

I don’t think life can be lived successfully without one regret. You think it is an exaggerated remark? Well…let’s keep the conversastion at the practical level. You only have control over one person…you.  So good so far. Now, what if as you get older you lose one of your parents, I’d consider this to be a loss. At 54, I’d still consider it a loss and can do nothing about it but regret. What do you think?
